Plastic surgery penile enlargement

There are two basic penis enlargement surgeries.

  • Lengthening the penis. The most common procedure is to cut the ligament that connects the penis to the pelvic bone. This surgery allows a little more of the shaft to become visible outside the body, on average less than an inch. It’s not lengthening the penis so much as revealing more of what’s usually hidden. To prevent the ligament from reattaching, a guy would need weights or stretching devices daily for about six months.
  • Widening the penis. For men who think their penis is too thin, more controversial procedures can thicken it using implanted fat, silicone, or tissue grafts.

One newer — and possibly lower-risk — procedure may work for certain men. In some cases, the scrotum attaches high up on the shaft of the penis. Partially disconnecting the scrotum can reveal more of the shaft, making the penis look longer. The surgery takes 20 minutes and can be done on an outpatient basis.

A pre-operative visit with the surgeon is essential to allow the patient to understand the meaning of the intervention and to discuss their expectations. The surgeon must evaluate the anatomical conditions of the penis and testicles. It is also essential to carry out a preventive ultrasound examination in addition to the blood chemistry and the electrocardiogram to exclude prostatic hypertrophy. Penis enlargement is a cosmetic surgery and must only be performed on healthy men who do not have the urogenital system’s pathologies.

Surgical Penis Enlargement Procedures

Penis enlargement surgery is commonly called penoplasty, phalloplasty, penile enhancement, penis enhancement, penis augmentation, and male enhancement. Like all surgeries, it has dangers and may not work as expected.

There are two primary types of surgeries used for penis enlargement: augmentation with fat tissue or dermal fillers, and ligament transection.

Penis Enlargement Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers used to plump the lips and fill in skin wrinkles are also used to increase the penile length and girth. Fillers like Juvederm®, Perlane®, and Restylane® can be injected into the shaft of a penis to make it bigger.

Note that the results of this minimally invasive penis enlargement surgery are temporary and may require multiple treatments to achieve the degree of augmentation desired. This type of dermal filler can be dissolved quickly if the results are unsatisfactory, botched, or no longer wanted. This treatment is not useful for improving erectile dysfunction of any type.

Penis Enlargement Fat Transfer

This procedure uses fat tissue harvested from other parts of the body to increase the size of the patient’s penis. It involves grafting the fat onto the surface of the shaft of the penis, instead of injecting it into the shaft. Most patients require multiple treatments, and much of the fat tissue that is grafted gets reabsorbed by the body. Some patients reabsorb up to 80% within one year after the procedure.

Penis Enlargement Ligament Transection

A suspensory ligament transaction is the most common surgical procedure performed for increasing the length of a penis. It involves severing the ligament that attaches the shaft of the penis to the pubic bone. This surgery alters the penile angle and causes the penis to hang lower than it used to, thereby appearing longer than before.

This technique is reported to increase the length of a flaccid penis by 1-3 centimeters, less than an inch for most patients. It does not increase the length of the penis when erect. Some men report that having the suspensory ligament severed makes it difficult to achieve penetration during intercourse.

For men with a large tummy, liposuction, a surgical procedure to remove fat below the abdomen, can make their penis look larger. Removing excess fat around the pubic area can make a partly buried penis appear more prominent. Liposuction can result in a 2cm gain in length in the short-term, but the fat will return to the pubic area if the patient puts on weight again. The procedure can give the patient a confidence boost, but for it to be sustained over the long term, they need to improve their diet and get exercising. However, like all surgical procedures, liposuction carries the risk of side effects and complications.

How does Penis surgery work?

How does surgery work

The surgery is a crescent-shaped piece of medical-grade silicone inserted under your penis skin to make your penis longer and wider. It’s provided in three sizes: large, extra-large, and extra-extra-large.

The tissues that give your penis its shape are mainly composed of two types:

  • Corpus cavernosa: two cylindrical pieces of tissue that run parallel to each other along the top of your penis
  • Corpus spongiosum: one cylindrical piece of tissue that runs along the bottom of your penis and surrounds your urethra, where urine comes out

Your Penuma device will be designed to fit your specific penis shape. It’s inserted into your shaft over the corpus cavernosa, like a sheath.

This device is done through an incision in your groin area just above the base of your penis. The device stretches the penis skin and tissues to make your penis look and feel larger.

Penis Enlargement Surgery Risks

The Penuma website reports that you may experience pain with erection, and some loss of penis sensation, during the first few weeks. These are usually temporary.

If these side effects last for more than a few days, see your doctor. In some cases, removing and reinserting the Penuma can alleviate these side effects.

According to an evaluation of men who underwent this type of surgery, possible complications include:

  • perforation and infection of the implant
  • stitches coming apart (suture detachment)
  • implant breaking apart
  • blood slots trusted Source in penile tissue

Also, after surgery, your penis may look significantly bulkier or not shaped to your liking.

Make sure you discuss realistic expectations for your penis appearance with your surgeon before you have the procedure.

Is this procedure always successful?

According to the Penuma website, the success rate of this procedure is high. Most side effects or complications are purportedly due to people not following surgical aftercare instructions.

The Journal of Sexual Medicine reported on a surgical study evaluation of 400 men who underwent the Penuma procedure. The study found that 81 percent rated their satisfaction with their results at least “high” or “very high.”

A small number of subjects experienced complications, including seroma, scarring, and infection. And 3 percent needed to have the devices removed due to problems following the procedure.

What is Phalloplasty?

The phalloplasty is the intervention of plastic surgery for the construction, reconstruction, and enlargement of the penis.

Phalloplasty is a somewhat complicated procedure that requires multiple distinct operations to be performed in some circumstances.

Currently, phalloplasty is achievable through various surgical techniques, which are the result of the evolution and improvement of modern plastic surgery.

A rather complex operation, phalloplasty, can be used in the presence of congenital defects of the penis (e.g., micropenis, epispadias, or hypospadias ). And also anatomical alterations of the penis, following traumatic events or the removal of a tumor. Furthermore, phalloplasty is one of the surgical procedures offered to women who want to change sex and become men.

Although it is safer than it used to be and guarantees better results than a few decades ago, phalloplasty is still today an intervention characterized by a not negligible risk of failure and complications.

Penis Enlargement By Phalloplasty

Phalloplasty, or surgery, remains the reference procedure for penis enlargement and has been performed for more than 30 years (and potentially even longer) on hundreds of thousands of subjects.

Despite this, there is a lot of incorrect information on its safety and efficacy, especially on the internet.

How To Choose The Right Clinic And Surgeon For Penis Enlargement

Penis enlargement phalloplasty has recently become quite popular and easily accessible. Several medical-cosmetic groups or plastic surgeons have started offering this treatment, and even non-surgeon doctors like dermatologists who perform penis enlargement use fillers.

Although most surgical techniques are relatively safe and straightforward, it is essential that you carefully choose the healthcare facility and doctor for the surgery.

Penis enlargement phalloplasty is different from that of breast enlargement or other plastic surgery; in fact, it has not only an impact on the aesthetic aspect of the genitals but also its sexual function.

This is why the doctor from whom he will visit (to evaluate if he is the ideal candidate for treatment) and operate it must have an in-depth knowledge of the genitals and male sexual function.

What Results Can I Expect From Penis Enlargement Phalloplasty?

The results depend on the patient’s specific conditions and anatomy, but in general, it is possible to obtain these results:

  • Increase in the flabby state of 2-5 cm
  • 0.5-1 cm increase in the erect state (through postoperative physiotherapy)
  • 20-40% increase in the flaccid and erect state of the penis circumference
  • 20-30% increase in glans volume

Phalloplasty: The Importance Of Postoperative Therapy

Although penis enlargement is a minimally invasive surgery and will be able to return to its routine the day after the surgery, postoperative therapy is of primary importance.

After the operation, you will receive specific instructions, and your surgeon, together with one of our consultants, will remain in contact with you for the following weeks. You must follow the postoperative instructions carefully so as not to compromise the results of the surgery. In particular:

  • Two weeks after the phalloplasty surgery (unless otherwise indicated), penile stretching exercises must be started (if you have undergone a stretching operation). The activities will prevent penile retraction and allow you to gain more centimeters in the erect state; the longer it does, the higher the results.
  • If, on the other hand, you have undergone an operation to increase the circumference with the injection of autologous fat, you will have to gently massage the penis shaft every day for a few weeks after the surgery. This operation will increase blood flow to the injected fat (which means that a higher percentage of fat will remain permanently) and will serve to make the distribution homogeneous.
  • It is crucial to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Lifestyle will, in fact, not only influence healing but, above all, it will determine, in case of autologous fat injection, the amount of fat that will survive over time (allowing a permanent result). We advise our patients to quit or at least stop smoking to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the months following the intervention.

Is sexual potency affected?

Not. Penis enlargement does not affect sexual potency.

After how long can the sexual activity be resumed?

Regular sexual activity can be resumed after one month

The penis enlargement operation is visible to others, can you see the scars?

The scars are invisible and hidden in the pubic hair.

Is the result of a permanent?

The result achieved by a penis length surgery remains permanently. However, it has to be mentioned that approximately 30-50% of the fat cells injected in a girth enlargement surgery will be absorbed with time, the rest remains. If hyaluronic acid is used as a dermal filler to increase penis width, it is essential to know that these fillers dissolve in six to 18 months. A penile girth augmentation with hyaluronic acid filler material, therefore, brings only a temporary result and will have to be renewed after one year.

What about penis enlargement without surgery?

Penis enlargement without surgery is not possible. There is little to no medical evidence that non-surgical penis enlargement techniques like the so-called ‘jelqing’ and other penis-stretching methods result in a permanent penis augmentation.

Plastic Surgery Costs

Penile Girth

Penile thickening with fat injection and Pubic Fat Liposuction

Total cost: $9,990 (including Surgeon’s fee, Assistant Surgeons fee, Anaesthetist’s fee, Hospital, operating theatre and all follow up visits cost).

Penile thickening with dermal fat grafting and Pubic Liposuction

Total cost: $14,990 (including Surgeon’s fee, Assistant Surgeons fee, Anaesthetist’s fee, Hospital, operating theatre and six weeks follow up visits).

The other procedure to widen and thicken the penis is known as “dermal fat grafting.” The dermal fat graft is harvested from the buttock, thigh, abdomen, or pubic area. The graft is placed along the shaft of the penis.

Dermal Fat Grafts (DFG ) have been the gold standard for penile widening surgery and often used in combination with the phalloplasty procedure. The dermal graft is permeant.

What is the difference between using fat injections and dermal fat grafts to widen the penis?

Fat transfers by injection often have excellent initial results, but at the end of 6 weeks, 30% of the fat injected is reabsorbed into the body. Some patients require top-ups in 12 months after the initial surgery. The other side effect of fat injection is “lumpy appearance.” The preferred technique is dermal fat grafting.
